Casinos make their profits by allowing patrons to place bets on games of chance, such as poker and blackjack. There are a number of built-in advantages that ensure the house will always win, known as the house edge. The higher the house edge, the lower the probability that a player will win.

Most casino games have a high house edge, which means that you will lose money on your bets over the long term. Casinos earn money from patrons by taking a percentage of all bets. This money is called the “vigorish.”
